ABANDONED VEHICLES
Scrapping an abandoned car in UK doesn’t have to be difficult, but it does have to be done correctly. Maybe the field in front of your house has an old, abandoned car in it, or you can’t park where you want because a vehicle with flat tires that hasn’t moved in months is there, just taking up space. Nobody seems to know who the car belongs to, but you know you want to get rid of it. What do you do?. You don’t own the car, you don’t have the title, and you don’t own the property it’s sitting on. Most junkyards won’t take cars without titles. Are you just stuck? No! Fortunately, there are ways to go about scrapping an abandoned vehicle that are perfectly legal. It’s a process, though, and does require that you get legal permission to have the vehicle towed away. Until the tow truck driver has filed a proper report, no fees for towing or storing the vehicle can be collected. That report must be filed with the local police authority, and with the Motor Vehicle Division.
DAMAGED CARS
There’s an array of different reasons which can cause a car to be classified as damaged or broken. However, the reasons often fall into one of the following three categories; bodywork, engine/parts or interior. Because it is usually an element which is damaged, and not the entirety of the car, it means that the vehicle can often be sold as salvage and the car’s parts will be used to help repair other vehicles. For example; if you had two of the same cars in terms of make, year and model but one of them had a damaged engine and was a non-starter and one of them had a smash-damaged shell, a specialist would be able to use elements of each car to create one working vehicle. Fixing damaged cars can be time-consuming, expensive and often people don’t have the required expertise to be able to do so themselves, which is why vehicles that require a certain level of work, are often sold on as salvage vehicles.
INSURANCE WRITE-OFF
Insurance write offs can happen because of a crash, the car is inundated with water during a flood or even because of accidental damage. The lid coming off a tin of paint one the way home from the DIY store could write-off your car. If your insurer considers the cost of repairs to be uneconomical your car will be classed an insurance write-off. Uneconomical can mean repairs would cost 50%-60% of the vehicle’s value, but this could be even lower for a brand new vehicle. The car will then be kept by the insurer and you will receive a cash payout for the loss, usually the vehicle’s ‘market value’. This is the price your car would have sold for at a trusted dealership before it was damaged or stolen.
FLEET CARS
Scrapping fleet cars in UK doesn’t have to be difficult, but it does have to be done correctly. Maybe the field in front of your house has an old, abandoned car in it, or you can’t park where you want because a vehicle with flat tires that hasn’t moved in months is there, just taking up space. NON RUNNERS CAR
So your car is a non-runner and you are having a nightmare trying to find a suitable buyer? Sound familiar? Selling a non-running vehicle is inherently known as being a very difficult problem to resolve. You have a vehicle that requires a lot of outlay to get back on the road with no guarantee that the vehicle will be roadworthy at the end. Private buyers and smaller garages are wary of the risk involved and therefore cannot afford to be competitive on prices. That’s where we come in. At Scrap My Car Collection, we specialise in these types of vehicles. We have the confidence that we have the required skills and expertise to be able to offer you higher than normal sums for your problem vehicle. This is not an easy task, but years of industry experience places us in a position where by we can make you a competitive offer over the phone and guarantee the price.
MOT CERTIFICATE
An MOT certificate is a document that declares your car legal and safe to drive on the road. A car that doesn’t have a valid MOT certificate cannot be taxed. This means that driving a car without a valid MOT certificate is not only potentially dangerous, but also illegal. You could be fined £1,000 and even receive points on your license if you’re caught driving a car with MOT certificate. The certificate itself is a confirmation that your car has passed the minimum requirements for it to be safe on the road. Most parts of the car are checked to see that they’re working correctly and in good enough condition, such as lights, brakes, windscreen wipers and bodywork. A fault in one of these areas can be enough to cause the car to fail the MOT test. In most cases, the garage will offer to fix the issue there and then so that the car can pass. Alternatively, you may wish to take the car to be tested elsewhere, or arrange for it to be fixed on another day. These are the only circumstances in which you can drive the car if its last certificate has expired, otherwise, it must remain off the road.
